D7 Mechanical

Client: West Fraser

Location: High Prairie, AB, Canada

Start date: April 2017

Finish date: December 2017

In 2017, D7 Mechanical spearheaded a modernization initiative for West Fraser during a comprehensive upgrade to their High Prairie sawmill in Alberta.

The project involved the installation of crucial components, including fire protection, hydraulic & lube piping, pneumatic piping, plus plumbing & heating piping. The upgrades also included the integration of an Optimil canter line, relocation of two debarkers, installation of a new mechanizer line, and the implementation of a new chipper system.

Valued at $55 million, this substantial modernization positioned High Prairie Forest Products (HPFP), a West Fraser Mills Ltd. division, as one of the top mills on the continent. This strategic enhancement aligns with HPFP's commitment to becoming a cutting-edge facility capable of producing 180,000 million board feet annually, fostering stability for employees and contributing to the resilience of the local and regional economy.
